shadow of a doubt: The James Beathard story
Through Shadow of a Doubt: The James Beathard Story, we hope to make change within the Texan capital punishment system. We hope this documentary sparks conversation and outrage which in turn translates into public pressure being applied upon state lawmakers to change rules on post-trial evidence.
To accomplish this goal, we hope to fundraise $15,000 via our Kickstarter, in addition to this the team are pursuing a diverse range of film and human rights grants to produce a documentary that tells James’ story to the world for the first time.
The project was recently announced the winner of the competitive 2025 Judith Filler Foundation grant for $10,000. This is a grant given to projects that strive to end the death penalty in Texas.
“Texas likes to argue ‘YOU CANT POINT TO A SINGLE EXAMPLE WHERE WE’VE EVER EXECUTED ANYONE INNOCENT.’ Well, if your documentary gets made, i think we’re about to.”
